Eco nutrition
ECO NUTRITION is based on the consumption of organic and natural bio-certified food.
These foods come from organic farming or livestock breeding, where the use of fertilizers or pesticides is not allowed and where livestock are bred in as natural a way as possible.
When talking about eco nutrition, the following terms are relevant:
- Organic farming.
Organic crops are those respecting the land’s regeneration cycles. As they are free of chemical products, the greens and vegetables have a more intense flavour, a truer colour and their aspect is not usually perfect.
- Organic livestock production.
This kind of livestock breeding strives to keep the animal’s environment and feeding process natural. The animals are not generally given non-organic feed or allowed to graze in fertilized meadows, and their meat, eggs or dairy products have a different, more intense flavour.
- Organic fishing.
It is based on the use of traditional methods which do not alter the natural environment, or the waters in which the species live. Undersized fish are not permitted and rest periods for the natural regeneration of the species must be observed.
Natural feeding has some drawbacks, such as the fact that the fish are more likely to suffer from, and spread, pests and diseases, and the resulting product may be more expensive and also possibly less than perfect in appearance.
However, remember its benefits:
- They contain more vitamins and minerals.
- They prevent the accumulation of toxins in our bodies and help clear them.
- They generate fewer free radicals, thus slowing down cell ageing.
- They are more filling, and help you control your weight.
- They have a more natural, intense flavour.
- They help us to look after the planet and curb greenhouse gas emissions.
- They are respectful of nature.
- They care for biodiversity and allow the natural reproduction of species.
